Le daman des rochers ou daman du Cap (Procavia capensis) est un gros "rongeur" de la taille d'un lièvre qui aime lézarder au soleil. Cela est du à sa particularité de ne pas être totalement homéotherme. 

Petit rappel:

Les mammifères, dont nous, sont homéothermes. C'est à dire que nous régulons nous même notre température interne sans dépendre de l'environnement extérieur on parle alors d'animal endotherme, enfin dans la majorité des cas ;)

Les reptiles sont eux poïkilothermes. Leur température corporelle varie en fonction du milieu extérieur. On les dit aussi ectothermes car ils utilisent par exemple le soleil pour se réchauffer.

Le daman des rochers est homéotherme mais pas endotherme. Sa température dépend en partie du milieu extérieur et c'est pour cela qu'il aime se prélasser au soleil.

Abseiling:

Mammals, which we, are homeothermic. We regulate our internal temperature without depending on the outside environment, we speak then about endothermic animal, finally in the majority of the cases ;)

Reptils are them poïkilothermic. Their physical temperature varies according to the outside environment. We also say them ectothermic because they use for example the sun to warm itself.

The rock hyrax is homeothermic but not endothermic. Its temperature depends partially on the outside environment and that's why he likes basking in the sun.
